Arup designed and supervised the installation of a medium temperature hot water district heating scheme with a total of 14 MW of heating capacity. The system comprises 3 high efficiency gas boilers (4 MW each), 2 of which have dual-fuel capability allowing for maximum flexibility in future fuel supplies (e.g. potential for bio-diesel).

The scheme also employs a 2MW biomass wood pellet boiler which provides the base heat load to the site. This district heating scheme will provide metered heating supply for the apartments, commercial offices, retail buildings, and the hotel. Future addition of buildings in close proximity to the site has also been considered in the district heating plant capacity sizing.
