Arup Scope: Geotechnical, Civil, Structural and Building Services Design and Fire Engineering Services
Arup provided all the engineering input to the development of the site which was a disused gravel quarry. There were significant elements of geotechnical design to facilitate the temporary excavation condition with slopes up to 26m high.
These comprised of sandstone rock and overburden. The soil slopes were stabilised with mini soil anchors. Rock anchors and rock netting were used for the rock slopes to ensure the safety of the construction workers and to facilitate rapid construction of the building.
