Air Quality
Arup offers the following services to assist clients in meeting their obligations under EU and Irish legislation in relation to air quality:
- Identification of sources of emissions to atmosphere
- Quantification of emissions in terms of:
- Volume
- Emission rates of various pollutants
- Frequency and duration of emissions
- Prediction of impact on ambient air quality
- Dust deposition monitoring
- Odour modelling.
These services are offered in relation to:
- Environmental Impact Assessments
- IPPC Licence applications and reviews
- Waste Licence applications
- Air Pollution Act, 1987 – licence applications
- Demonstration of compliance with licence
- Analysis of unscheduled episodes
- Optimisation of stack configuration
- Assessment of impact of building development
- Assessment of mitigation options.
The impact of emissions on ambient air quality is predicted using computer models such as AERMOD (the model generally requested by the EPA), ADMS, SCREEN, ISCST, DMRB and ROADS.
